Check out my latest book!

I’m excited to let you know about my latest book, Harry Sees Things.  Check out an excerpt from the book below:

There was a time deep in his childhood when he spoke freely about his crazy.  Thankfully, he was young enough for his rantings to be called ‘creative.’  ‘Little Harry has such a rich imagination,’ they would say.  ‘Maybe he will be an artist someday,’ friends would tell his parents.

At first, his parents played along.  That faded when he outgrew the magical stage during which adults found everything he did ‘adorable.’  The signals were subtle but Harry picked up on them just the same.  He probably figured out how his mom and dad felt about his ‘imagination’ even before they realized they were sending the signals.

The thing that started off being cute and later turned into something he scrupulously kept to himself was that he could see things other people apparently could not.  It didn’t happen all the time or even all that often, which in a strange way made it more jarring.  But it had been happening consistently for as long as he could remember.

The first time — or the first time he could remember — he was standing with his nose pressed against the picture window in his living room.  He was bored and, being an only child, frequently found himself bored.  There was thick teal wool carpet.  Harry could still remember how it felt between his toes.  He watched the mail lady come and go.  He could still hear the sound of the mailbox next to the front door opening and closing.  A cat wandered across the yard and scurried away when Harry tapped the glass.  And then a very round, very free thing with stubby legs, enormous, black eyes, and a nose that looked like half an elephant’s trunk, wandered right past his house on the sidewalk.  As it passed, the long green snout angled toward Harry and one of the eyes winked right at him.
